We are Dorte and Jørgen. we have owned Stald Skyttehus since 2014. We are both riders. Dorte has previously been a dressage rider and in the 90’s she bred Danish Warmblood horses. In 2017 she sold her last big horse. Now both of us have our focus, solely, on the Icelandic horse, which has been Jørgen’s big passion since 1995. Once in awhile we breed Icelandic foals. With Skyttehus Ovalbane, we hope to be surrounded by even more passionate people who are attending events, so that we can share our passion with many people. We live with our Golden Retriever, Bessie (2014) and the stable-cats at Stald Skyttehus.
We have Icelandic horses, the oldest is born in 1993 and the youngest in 2017. Tildra, born 1998 is the oldest of our own breeding, she is a great mare, amazing with kids and beginners. She has all 5 paces and all 5 gears can be used, but her age must be taken into account. Besides running our establishment, Dorte also works her main job in Bredebro, and Jørgen works at the farm.
We live at Skyttehus and participate as both owners and riders. Our mission with the place is to be a place where everybody feels welcomed, a place where you as a rider and horse can evolve in safe surroundings. The tracks will help showing all the skills of the Icelandic horse in the south of Denmark. We welcome riders from across the border. Our vision is to continue our growth of the facilities, and thereby stay updated and relevant in our modern way of working and living with horses.
